According to CoinMeta, Coinbase has announced that it will open more than 170 derivative contracts to qualified professional investors in the UK, covering cryptocurrencies, commodities, stocks, and foreign exchange. Perpetual contracts support up to 50 times leverage, and the services will be gradually rolled out over the next few weeks to months. The products include futures, perpetual contracts, and cryptocurrency options. Perpetual contracts have no expiration date and support long, short, and neutral strategies. Regular futures support up to 20 times leverage and have fixed settlement dates. Coinbase previously obtained a financial services license in July, and the related derivative business is conducted under the investment services license of CB Payments Ltd. In the first phase, it is limited to qualified professional investors in the UK, and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) will set requirements for financial stability, capital, stress testing, and market integrity.
