According to CoinMeta, Coinbase announced the launch of a new Deribit matching engine that significantly enhances its trading capabilities, capable of processing over 100,000 transactions per second. The introduction of this engine is aimed at supporting a wider adoption of cryptocurrencies and stablecoins, with the goal of achieving greater liquidity and lower matching delays. Despite the daily active addresses on the base chain dropping to a historic low of 3,600, Coinbase generated revenue of over 2 million US dollars in July, ranking after Robinhood. Coinbase also plans to migrate futures contracts to the same core execution architecture, so that options and futures can share the same infrastructure.
