Tether Completes the Largest-Scale Initial Audit, KPMG Issues Unreserved Approval
2026-08-14 04:14:27
According to CoinMeta, the stablecoin giant Tether announced that it has completed its first full independent financial statement audit. One of the four major accounting firms, KPMG, issued an unqualified opinion on the company's financial statements for 2025, which is the most favorable opinion that an independent auditor can give. The CEO of Tether, Paolo Ardoino, stated, "This is a decisive moment for the stablecoin industry." He also mentioned that this audit was unprecedented in scale, as KPMG conducted a comprehensive review of the company's balance sheet, including the assets that support USDT. KPMG also carried out a physical count and inspection of each gold bar held by Tether to verify their existence, rather than relying solely on reports provided by custodians or counterparties.
