Fitch Confirms US AA Rating Upgrade, Outlook Stable
2026-08-14 05:00:33
According to CoinMeta, on Thursday, the rating agency Fitch confirmed the U.S. long-term sovereign credit rating as AA+, and maintained a stable outlook, despite the agency noting an economic slowdown and increasing fiscal pressures. Fitch expects U.S. economic growth to decline to 1.9% in 2026 and 2027, lower than 2.8% in 2025. The agency also mentioned that the labor market has cooled significantly, with weakened labor demand and a notable decrease in job creation. Despite the weak growth prospects, Fitch stated that the AA+ rating is still based on the fundamental strength of the U.S. economy, including high per capita income levels and a strong business environment.
