Ether.fi Upgrades to Unmanaged Bank, Launches Stocks and 4% Loans

According to CoinMeta, Ether.fi has announced an upgrade to its non-trusted bank service, adding tokenized stocks and metals to its offerings. Nearly 4% of the portfolio now supports loans, payments in over 30 currencies are available, and there is also support for programmed ETHFI buybacks. This “summer” release integrates crypto trading, tokenized real assets, portfolio lending, and global payments into a single application, with the aim of becoming an alternative to traditional bank accounts. Eligible users can purchase tokenized stocks and commodities through integration with Xstocks; the assets remain in a self-managed vault. Lending is conducted through a new AAVE market that operates on Optimism, and users can use their portfolio assets as collateral to obtain loan rates of around 4%. Borrowed funds can be spent via a Ether.fi cash card, or users can choose to directly consume the supported assets or continue holding them as collateral to generate further income. Ether.fi, the CEO of Ether.fi, stated that the project aims to bridge the gap between decentralized finance and everyday financial needs.
