The Japanese yen remains consolidating; expectations of a interest rate hike by the Bank of Japan may provide support.

According to CoinMeta, the Japanese yen has remained relatively stable against other G10 currencies and Asian currencies overall, but the expectation of a interest rate hike by the Bank of Japan (BOJ) could provide support for the yen. Carol Kong, an economist and foreign exchange strategist at the Reserve Bank of Australia, stated in a research report: "Some media reports suggest that the Takashimura administration supports the BOJ's recent interest rate hikes, and Takashimura Eriko's preference for lower interest rates is generally considered a factor that limits the pace of the BOJ's interest rate increases. Currently, the market expects a 25-basis-point interest rate hike by the BOJ at its September meeting with a probability of about 70%." As of now, the US dollar is trading at USD / JPY against the yen at 159.41, which is basically flat.
