KBC Bank: The Japanese yen remains strong against the currencies of major trading partners
2026-08-14 10:25:28
According to CoinMeta, Abbas Kashwani, head of macro strategy for Capital Markets Asia at the Royal Bank of Canada, stated in an email that the Japanese yen has not performed weakly relative to other currencies. Kashwani pointed out that, thanks to recent intervention measures, the yen has not been the worst-performing currency over the past month. He said that the yen has still strengthened against the currencies of Japan's major trading partners. Kashwani added that another way to measure the relative performance of the yen is by observing the euro/yen exchange rate, which is currently far below the level around 187 seen during the authorities' first two rounds of intervention.
