According to CoinMeta, the French Ministry of Finance confirmed that the General Directorate of Public Finance in France was hacked at the end of June, resulting in the leakage of taxpayers' data. The cybersecurity platform frenchbreaches stated that approximately 678,000 people were affected, with the leaked information including names, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, tax identification information, and income data. Among them, nearly 27,000 people declared incomes of at least 100,000 euros, and the data of 386 individuals with incomes over 1 million euros is said to have been sold on the dark web. Although this data leak did not directly identify cryptocurrency holders, at a time when there has been an increase in violent robberies and kidnappings targeting crypto asset holders in France, information such as income and addresses may be used by criminal groups to target high-net-worth individuals. Chainalysis data shows that in the first half of 2026, France recorded 30 publicly disclosed violent attacks, with losses exceeding 30 million US dollars.
