Grayscale Research Director: Ethereum and Solana community discuss adjusting token issuance mechanism
2026-08-15 11:00:16
According to CoinMeta, Zach Pandl, the head of grayscale research, stated that both the Ethereum and Solana communities are discussing adjustments to the token issuance mechanism in order to reduce staking rewards and the future supply growth rate. If the relevant proposals are approved and implemented, it is expected that by the end of 2031, the annual supply growth rate for ETH will drop to around 0.4%, and for SOL to around 1.1%, both of which are lower than gold's annual supply growth rate of about 1.8%. Pandl believes that, assuming other conditions remain unchanged, a slowdown in supply growth could support token prices, but stakers will also receive correspondingly fewer token rewards. Currently, these adjustments are still in the discussion phase and have not yet been approved for implementation.
