According to CoinMeta, the Russian government has prohibited crypto mining in Moscow and surrounding areas, with the restrictions lasting until December 31, 2032. This ban is implemented in accordance with Government Decree No. 936, which prohibits participation in crypto mining pools. According to the computing power index indicated by Luxor, Russia accounted for 16.4% of the global Bitcoin mining power in the first quarter, which is approximately 175 EH /s, ranking after the United States. The country's Ministry of Energy stated that implementing annual restrictions is aimed at reducing the risk of power supply shortages. Currently, the mining consumption of Moscow's power system is about 1 GW, while by 2032, the data center capacity in this region could reach 3.6 GW, accounting for about 17% of peak demand.
