EU MICA regulatory framework fully implemented; third-country crypto platforms not allowed to promote services to European customers

According to CoinMeta, as reported by crowdfundinsider, with the full implementation of the EU's MICA regulatory framework and the end of the transition period, unauthorized third-country crypto platforms are not allowed to actively target customers in the European Economic Area and must cease acquiring new local customers. Regulatory authorities of member states may require such platforms to withdraw from the market, issue warnings, or impose administrative penalties. In some jurisdictions, they may also apply for restrictions on website access. MICA only allows for a limited exception to "reverse recruitment," which means that EU customers may proactively contact overseas platforms without any prior marketing efforts.
