Kathy Wood: Soaring memory prices are a warning sign; I'm optimistic about AI chips that don't require high-bandwidth memory
2026-08-19 15:24:26
According to CoinMeta, Kathy Wood stated that the soaring prices of memory are a warning sign. She is avoiding investing in stocks of AI chips that rely on memory and is instead favoring companies that develop AI chips such as Cerebras Systems and Groq which do not require high-bandwidth memory. She believes that the shortage of memory is driving up prices and considers high-bandwidth memory to be the most cyclical and easily commoditizable part of the semiconductor industry chain. Wood mentioned that price increases of three, four, or even ten times are not normal, and that the chip industry is working to reduce its dependence on high-bandwidth memory through technical design.
