The US SEC proposes a new crypto regulatory framework for token financing
2026-08-20 00:18:29
According to CoinMeta, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has proposed a regulatory framework for financing certain crypto assets. The framework would create two registration exemptions under the Securities Act of 1933, allowing startups to raise up to $5 million over a four-year period, and qualified issuers to raise up to $75 million every 12 months. The plan also introduces a conditional safe harbor that can be applied after the issuer completes or permanently terminates the management obligations. The proposal is currently in the public comment stage, and the public has 60 days from the publication in the Federal Register to comment on each provision.
