According to CoinMeta, the U.S. Treasury Department has decided to increase the scale of long-term bond repurchases to at least $4 billion, exceeding the previous amount of $2 billion. This move is regarded as a major policy initiative this week. As a result of this policy, the yield on 30-year Treasury bonds fell by 8 to 9 basis points within hours of the announcement, the dollar depreciated to a three-month low, and the stock market rose due to the rebound in the bond market. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 Index both rose by about 0.2%, while the Nasdaq Composite Index rose by about 0.16%. Meanwhile, the stock price of Moderna soared by as much as 176% due to the positive trial results of its melanoma vaccine developed in collaboration with Merck.
