According to CoinMeta, the total debt of the U.S. federal government has exceeded $40 trillion. As government borrowing increases at a historically rare pace, the expansion of debt has raised concerns among investors about the state of the U.S. public finances. According to data from the U.S. Treasury Department, debt has increased by $3 trillion over the past year, which is the fastest growth rate in history if the pandemic period is not taken into account. Mark Goldwin, senior policy director of the Responsible Federal Budget Committee, stated that this phenomenon is a clear signal that things have gotten out of control. Over the past two decades, U.S. national debt has risen sharply, and it is expected that by around 2030, the proportion of federal debt held by the public will exceed the historical peak of GDP at 106%, and it will further climb to 120% in 2036.
