According to CoinMeta, as reported by The Wall Street Journal, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Branson ( Scott Bessent ) announced an expansion of the Treasury bond repurchase program to address rising long-term interest rates. This repurchase will increase the maximum purchase amount per transaction from $2 billion to at least $4 billion, and the program will start on September 9 and continue until November 4. This move was taken after the yield on 30-year Treasury bonds exceeded 5.3%, and the market responded positively, with the S&P 500, the Dow Jones Industrial Average, and the Nasdaq Composite Index all rising by about 0.2%. Analysts believe that this action is not only a technical fix but also a signal that the government is willing to take unconventional measures when under pressure.
