According to CoinMeta, the Swedish Central Bank has maintained its interest rate at 1.75% for the 12th consecutive month, which is the lowest level in the European Union. The bank also reiterated that it is still prepared to tighten monetary policy this year if the war in Iran leads to accelerated inflation. The Governor of the Swedish Central Bank, Erik Thed é en, and other policymakers stated in a statement that "the possibility of raising interest rates later this year still exists." In June of this year, they indicated that there was a 50% chance of a 25-basis-point interest rate hike in 2026. The Swedish Central Bank said, "If the unexpectedly high inflation this summer is just the beginning of a larger and more persistent rise in inflation, the Swedish Central Bank will adjust its monetary policy in a more tightening direction."
