Sino-US AI derivatives race: Shanghai Futures Exchange prepares to launch Token futures
2026-08-20 16:12:05
According to CoinMeta and OneMillion.AI, the Shanghai Futures Exchange is planning to launch futures contracts based on AI Token (the smallest unit of information processed by artificial intelligence models), marking a further escalation in competition between China and the United States in the fields of artificial intelligence and financial derivatives. Unlike the computing power leasing futures being prepared by the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) in the US, which are linked to the consumption of Token used for AI service pricing, the futures contracts of the Shanghai Futures Exchange are directly tied to the consumption of Token, aiming to provide a new type of financial tool for hedging computing power and reasoning costs across the entire AI industry chain.
