HTX Denies Poisoned Transfer from Addresses Related to Kraken
2026-08-20 16:56:43
According to CoinMeta, HTX denies authorizing a series of controversial micro-transfers of cryptocurrencies on August 20th. Some users claim that funds from HTX-associated addresses led to compliance restrictions on Kraken and other exchanges. A representative from HTX stated that internal reviews did not find any activity from official accounts and suggested that affected users may have initiated the transfers independently as a protest or to test Kraken's restrictions. The representative claimed that the frozen funds included cases amounting to up to $4.2 million, but HTX has not released account records, transaction hashes, or related communications from Kraken to support this figure. Kraken has not yet publicly confirmed this highest amount. Reports began to emerge after users identified small, unrequested USDT transfers originating from HTX-associated addresses. Some commentators described these transfers as "address poisoning," intended to trigger the compliance systems of other platforms. HTX stated that its internal investigations did not find evidence of coordinated activities initiated by official accounts. Sun Yuchen, also known as HTX, called reports of intentional transfers "fabricated." HTX plans to release a final review, including verified sending addresses and transaction hashes.
