According to CoinMeta, social media platform X is considering using stablecoins to pay influencers and content creators. Media reports suggest that X (owned by Elon Musk) is in talks with Circle Internet Group (New York Stock Exchange: $CRCL) to use its USDC stablecoin (cryptocurrency: $USDC) for payments. These stablecoin payments will include royalties to content creators who regularly upload content and influential users. A stablecoin is a type of cryptocurrency whose value is linked to another asset, usually the US dollar. The market value of the stablecoin industry exceeds $300 billion, and they have become a popular form of blockchain-based payment. Musk's other company, SpaceX (Nasdaq: $SPCX), has already been using stablecoins to facilitate cross-border payments. X is revolutionizing the way it pays content creators, gradually phasing out its long-standing revenue-sharing program in favor of a new system called the "Original Content Incentive Program."
