U.S. Approves Early Sale of Winter Gasoline to Alleviate Fuel Price Pressures
2026-08-21 03:27:10
According to CoinMeta, the U.S. government has recently approved the early sale of winter gasoline in order to address rising fuel costs and supply concerns caused by the war with Iran. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that it will relax the summer gasoline standards, allowing the market to use the higher-polluting winter gasoline blend ahead of schedule. Typically, the switch to this blend does not occur until mid-September. This exemption policy allows the sale of gasoline containing 10% ethanol starting from September 1st. The U.S. government stated that this move will end the requirement for summer gasoline blends ahead of time, and is expected to increase domestic gasoline supply by several hundred thousand barrels per day, as well as further alleviate the price pressure faced by consumers at gas stations.
