According to CoinMeta, Japan's core inflation accelerated for the second consecutive month, with the core CPI rising by 1.8% year-on-year in July, higher than 1.6% in June. The core inflation indicator, excluding fresh food and energy prices, rose by 1.9% year-on-year. This acceleration in inflation was partly driven by energy prices, with energy costs rising by 0.6% year-on-year in July. Market expectations that the Bank of Japan may take action as soon as September have further strengthened, and investors are increasingly confident that the BOJ will act next month.
