Codex Quota Suddenly Shrinks? Pro 5x Users Report a 77% Reduction in Actual Usage

According to CoinMeta and OneMillion.AI, the Codex community has recently reported that their weekly quotas have suddenly become insufficient. A user with a 5x account on Pro noticed that their quota decreased from $674.05 to $156.95 over 7 days, a reduction of 76.7% when converted at the API price. However, when testing another Plus account, they observed a decrease of only 19.2%. Another user on Plus saw their quota drop from around $160 to $80. Some users on OpenAI Codex also shared their complete local logs. On August 14th, the quota was consumed at a rate approximately 2.4 times faster than usual, but it returned to normal within a few hours without any changes to the plan or quota resets. The degree of decrease varied significantly between different accounts, and there were discrepancies among third-party trackers. It is not ruled out that some accounts may have experienced bug. A similar anomaly occurred in June, and at that time, it was found that the OpenAI backend was performing more tasks than expected, which also caused issues with the usage data. After fixing the problem, the quotas were reset for the affected users.
