According to CoinMeta, the Japanese government will allocate an additional 150 billion yen (approximately $944 million) to support chip startup Rapidus in order to enhance domestic chip manufacturing capabilities and reduce dependence on Taiwan's TSMC. The Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will seek more funding for Rapidus in the 2027 fiscal year budget, with the company aiming to produce advanced 2-nanometer chips by 2027.
