According to CoinMeta, the Laser Digital supported by Japan’s Nomura has become the first newly registered crypto asset trading service provider in Japan in four years. It has been approved and is preparing to incorporate digital assets into the financial instruments framework. Laser Digital stated that its Japanese subsidiary has completed the registration and will initially provide liquidity for domestic virtual asset services, with plans to serve institutional investors later on. This registration provides a compliant pathway for Laser Digital to enter a market with growing demand. Surveys conducted by Nomura and Laser Digital in 2026 indicated that 79% of respondents plan to invest in crypto assets within the next three years. The registration of Laser Digital came after months of regulatory work, aiming to establish compliant trading operations for institutional clients. Japan recently passed a crypto law that classifies digital assets as financial products and lays a legal foundation for domestic spot crypto exchange trading funds.
