Dalio: Bitcoin is a hedging tool against the $40 trillion US debt
2026-08-22 05:41:26
According to CoinMeta, billionaire investor Ray Dalio stated that as the U.S. federal debt exceeds $40 trillion, he has once again become in favor of holding gold and a portion of Bitcoin. In a social media post, he pointed out that the financial situation of the U.S. government has reached a turning point, with the debt burden approaching a level that may be difficult to manage. He advises investors to diversify their investments across different asset classes and countries with sound financial situations, to limit exposure to debt assets such as bonds, and to increase holdings of gold and a small amount of Bitcoin. He believes that a gold allocation of about 10% to 15% can reduce the overall risk of a portfolio, as gold typically behaves differently from stocks and debt securities during periods of financial stress. Dalio's latest statement reflects his evolving views on cryptocurrencies, although he still places more emphasis on gold.
