CZ: Failing to adopt blockchain will lead to a stagnation in digital finance
2026-08-22 18:00:27
According to CoinMeta, Binance founder CZ stated in an interview at the ASEAN Technology Summit that if central bank digital currencies are easy to use and integrate, stablecoins may not be the only option. He pointed out that the worst-case scenario would be a halt in the development of the entire digital finance sector, with the continuation of the existing banking system and the abandonment of blockchain technology. This would result in cross-border remittances in regions like the Philippines still incurring high intermediary fees, and transactions remaining slow and cumbersome. However, CZ believes that the likelihood of such a situation occurring is very low. As the demand for faster payment speeds and higher throughput increases due to artificial intelligence, financial innovation will continue to advance.
