Analysts say the U.S. Treasury Department actually repurchased about $200 billion in U.S. debt funds

According to CoinMeta, and as reported by in, analyst qinbafrank pointed out that the actual amount of funds available to the U.S. Treasury Department for repurchasing U.S. bonds is approximately $200 billion, which is far lower than the market's expectation of $1 trillion. If U.S. Treasury Secretary Yellen utilizes the funds from the TGA account, she would need to set aside about $700 billion to cover expenditures for social security, healthcare, and interest on government bonds. Subsequent replenishments to the TGA account by the Treasury Department will have a draining effect on market liquidity.
