TotalEnergies CEO: The Strait of Hormuz continues to transport oil quietly
2026-08-25 10:16:34
According to CoinMeta, as reported by Reuters, TotalEnergies CEO Patrick Pouyanne stated that the Strait of Hormuz is still transporting oil quietly, despite facing a risk premium. Producers are offering discounts of up to $30 per barrel, indicating the sellers' true desperation rather than temporary disarray, which may limit the upside for Brent crude oil prices. Pouyanne also mentioned that TotalEnergies is continuing to invest in alternative pipelines to address the long-term risks associated with the Strait of Hormuz. The company plans to become a partner in the pipeline connecting Baghdad to Syria and will invest in doubling the capacity of the existing Fujairah pipeline in Abu Dhabi.
