According to CoinMeta, on August 16th and 17th, a mainnet inflation vulnerability was exploited, resulting in the generation of approximately 2077.97 DCR. This vulnerability stemmed from improper handling of consensus code, which allowed for double-spending inputs. Decred decided not to perform a rollback to minimize the impact on users. The additional 2000 DCR generated did not affect the 21 million coin cap, and it is far less than the 215,000 coins that were missing due to historical misallocations and other reasons. Currently, the team has developed an additional double-spending monitoring service and plans to improve the emergency upgrade signaling mechanism.
