According to CoinMeta, analysts at Goldman Sachs have adjusted their forecasts for the policy interest rates of the Bank of Japan. They now expect the BOJ to raise interest rates in September, whereas previously they anticipated such a move to occur in January 2027. The analysts suggest that the BOJ is likely to raise rates again in January 2027, provided that the salary negotiations during the "spring struggle" in 2027 confirm a strong trend of wage growth, and another rate hike will follow in July 2027, bringing the policy interest rate to 1.75% at that time. The analysts noted that the BOJ is becoming increasingly wary of the risk of inflation exceeding 2%, which increases the likelihood of an earlier rate hike. However, the BOJ still maintains that monetary policy is not lagging behind the situation, as potential inflation remains below 2%.
