Research Institution: AI Infrastructure Spending Soars; Cloud Service Providers to Place Greater Emphasis on Efficiency and Financial Discipline in the Second Half of the Year

According to CoinMeta, research institution Digitimes states that as spending on artificial intelligence-driven infrastructure continues to surge, major cloud service providers are expected to place increasing emphasis on operational efficiency and financial discipline in the second half of 2026. Amazon, Alphabet, and Microsoft's cloud business revenue combined reached $106.3 billion in the second quarter, with an annual growth rate accelerating to 43%, the fastest since 2020. Digitimes reports that Amazon, Microsoft, Alphabet, and Meta are expected to increase their total capital expenditures to a record $745 billion. Although these companies remain optimistic about demand for artificial intelligence, the continuously rising investment costs have put pressure on free cash flow, prompting cloud service providers to seek a balance between growth targets and increasing investment risks.
