Bitcoin price rebounds to $81,000, gold rises in tandem

According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Reuters, the price of Bitcoin broke through $81,000 on Tuesday, and gold also reached its highest point in three months, with both assets seeing simultaneous increases. Influenced by a weakening U.S. dollar, changes in Treasury bond yields, and uncertainty regarding Federal Reserve policies, investors have turned to scarce assets. Bitcoin reached a high of $81,237.94 during trading on Tuesday before falling back to $80,300. In August, Bitcoin rose by about 28%, showing promise to achieve its best monthly performance since November 2024. The U.S. Treasury Department announced that it would begin increasing liquidity support for the purchase of long-term Treasury bonds starting September 9, with the maximum size of a single operation being increased from $2 billion to at least $4 billion. Meanwhile, central banks purchased a record 289 metric tons of gold in the second quarter, worth approximately $45 billion, and 45% of reserve managers expect to increase their holdings within the next year.
