GoPlusSecurity: Vulnerability in Cosmos EVM Results in Losses Exceeding 17 Million US Dollars
2026-08-25 21:08:25
According to CoinMeta, as reported by GoPlusSecurity, a vulnerability known as Cosmos EVM erupted rapidly between August 20th and 23rd, resulting in losses of over 17 million US dollars. This series of vulnerabilities affected the staking pre-compiles and ownership accounts of Cosmos / EVM, impacting three chains within three days: Mantra, TAC, and Kiichain. It is worth noting that this is different from the ASA-2026-002 vulnerability that occurred in January 2026, which caused losses of about 7 million US dollars for Saga EVM. The code paths, exploitation methods, and patches for both vulnerabilities are distinct. Some media have confused these two incidents, leading to inaccurate analyses.
