According to CoinMeta, as reported by Nikkei News, approximately 40 banks in Japan plan to launch blockchain transfer experiments based on tokenized deposits, with the goal of establishing an inter-bank payment infrastructure that supports 24/7, low-cost, real-time settlement. GMO Aozora Net Bank, NEC's Abeam Consulting, and fintech company DCP will conduct relevant tests within August, utilizing blockchain to issue and circulate bank deposit tokens. Participating institutions include Resona Bank, Shogakukan Zhongjin, Yokohama Bank, and other banks, as well as observation organizations. This project aims to achieve direct transfer of tokenized deposits between banks without relying on existing nationwide banking systems, and DCP plans to promote practical applications in the fiscal year 2027.
