According to CoinMeta, at least 14 senior executives have resigned from OpenAI this year. As of August 21st, according to Business Insider, 13 senior managers and key personnel have left the company. The person in charge of the data center, Chris Malone, resigned last week; he joined the company in March 2025 and was responsible for data center expansion. Those who resigned include former COO Brad Lightcap, the head of application operations Fidji Simo, the Chief Revenue Officer Denise Dresser, former CMO Kate Rouch, former CPO Kevin Weil, and the head of the security system Johannes Heidecke, among others. The reasons for their departures vary; some left due to health issues, while others were affected by departmental reorganizations or project closures. The head of hardware Caitlin Kalinowski resigned due to dissatisfaction with OpenAI's cooperation with the Pentagon. This round of adjustments is seen as an active effort by management to renew its team. OpenAI secretly submitted documents to the US IPO in June, and there have been consecutive changes in the heads of business, security, research, and infrastructure. Clearly, the organizational stability before the listing was not on par with that of competitors Anthropic.
