Deutsche Bank: Positive news on the Iranian situation leads to a decline in German government bond yields
2026-08-26 14:29:40
According to CoinMeta, Deutsche Bank reported that positive news from Iran drove down oil prices, and German government bonds generally saw a boost, with the yield on 10-year German bonds testing levels below 3.2%. Erik Liem, an interest rate strategist at Commerzbank Germany, stated that German government bonds have strengthened both in terms of absolute price and relative to swaps, leading to a decline in yields. However, the yield spreads on government bonds of eurozone governments still perform poorly. Although the yield spreads within the eurozone have narrowed, their range of movement lags behind the overall trend of energy prices and is close to the high levels observed at the beginning of the Iran war.
