According to CoinMeta, Russian telecom giants MTS, Ростелеком, and Megafon are ready to accept digital ruble payments starting from September 1st, marking the official beginning of the first phase of the launch of Russia's central bank digital currency (CBDC). According to reports by The Messenger, these three major telecom operators are preparing for the launch of the payment system. MTS will offer digital ruble transactions within its MTS Pay services, while Ростелеком and Megafon are carrying out their own integrations. MTS plans to provide payment options without restricting any specific products or services; customers will initially be able to use digital rubles through the My MTS mobile app and the company's online store. According to regulations set by the Russian Central Bank, digital ruble accounts will be accessible through commercial banks, and the value of the digital ruble will be equal to that of the traditional ruble.
