According to CoinMeta, digital asset infrastructure provider Taurus has announced that it has connected its tokenization and custody platform to SWIFT’s blockchain ledger, providing financial institutions with a way to make 24/7 cross-border payments using bank-issued tokenized deposits. Taurus stated that the first customer connections are expected to be completed within a few days, and initial distributed ledger transactions are planned to begin within weeks. Existing customers can add this connection to their already operational infrastructure, while banks without their own blockchain systems can use the Hyperledger Besu infrastructure and Ethereum Virtual Machine provided by Taurus. This integration also supports institutions that are already operating Besu or other EVM compatible systems. Lamine Brahimi, co-founder of Taurus, stated that financial institutions need digital asset infrastructure that can securely collaborate with their existing systems. The shared ledger of SWIFT is intended to serve as a coordination layer between participating institutions to facilitate the transfer of tokenized deposits.
