According to CoinMeta, OpenAI announced today the launch of a new chip aimed at reducing reliance on NVIDIA. Meanwhile, NVIDIA reported its largest quarterly revenue in semiconductor history, reaching $96.2 billion, exceeding expectations of $92 billion and representing a year-over-year increase of 106%. Of this, the data center business contributed $89 billion, accounting for 92% of NVIDIA's total revenue. NVIDIA's guided revenue for the third quarter is $108 billion, excluding revenue from Chinese data centers. Suppliers have committed to increasing sales from $119 billion to $279 billion within one quarter, driven almost entirely by memory purchases. Vera Rubin is now in full production, and AWS plans to deploy an additional 2 million NVIDIA GPU in its global infrastructure during 2027-2028. Three customers accounted for 44% of the revenue in the first half of the year. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang stated, "Artificial intelligence has reached a turning point." Despite achieving 106% growth and record-guided figures, the stock price fell 4% in after-hours trading, marking the fifth decline in six quarters.
