According to CoinMeta, Coinbase has announced a partnership with Better Mortgage to expand Bitcoin and USDC mortgage lending services to 120 million homebuyers in the United States. This product allows homebuyers to mortgage their crypto assets to obtain housing loans without having to liquidate their Bitcoin or USDC. Moreover, it does not trigger capital gains tax. The loans are backed by Fannie Mae and offer both standard mortgages and down payment loans secured by the customer's crypto assets. For the down payment loans, the collateral ratio is 250% of the Bitcoin loan amount and 125% of USDC. This program is exclusively available to verified Coinbase One members, providing for fast verification of funding sources and offering lenders a rebate of up to 1% (up to $10,000).
