According to CoinMeta, OpenAI has appointed Sandhya Devanathan, a senior executive from Meta Platforms, to oversee the Southeast Asia and Australia markets in order to seize growth opportunities in these regions, which have a population of over 600 million. Devanathan will take on this new role and become the highest-ranking person in OpenAI for these areas, responsible for consumer user growth, corporate adoption and partnerships, operations, as well as communication with regulatory authorities. She is expected to start her new position in October. A spokesperson for OpenAI confirmed her appointment. Devanathan will be based in Singapore and report to Kieran Mani, the Managing Director of the Asia-Pacific region.
