Japan's largest monetary intervention in history: $96.5 billion in expenditures
2026-08-28 20:13:25
According to CoinMeta, Japan has just spent $96.5 billion on monetary intervention, which is the largest such intervention in Japanese history and was completed within just one month. Meanwhile, Japan's import bill in July reached a record of 12.1 trillion yen, and in August, prices for 2,311 food products increased. It is expected that in September, prices for another 4,531 goods will rise. The depreciation of the yen has made imported goods more expensive, and Japan is facing challenges brought about by this currency devaluation, with the rising import costs being passed on to consumers.
