According to CoinMeta, tax disputes in Sweden regarding deductions for income from crypto mining VAT are prompting some mining companies to reconfigure their local computing power assets. The latest financial report from Hive indicates that the company has made a non-cash provision of $84.7 million for related VAT disputes in Sweden, stating that tax enforcement and uncertainties have reduced the economic viability of traditional hashrate operations in the region. As a result, the company is gradually reducing ASIC mining activities and shifting its Boden facilities towards AI / HPC. The Swedish subsidiary of Northern Data is also facing tax disputes amounting to hundreds of millions of Swedish kronor, but the related tax decisions are still in the dispute or appeal phase.
