According to CoinMeta, Wu said that Cosmos Labs released a review of the Cosmos EVM security incident, stating that from August 20th to 25th, there were a total of 6 instances of Cosmos EVM networks being exploited for vulnerabilities. Attackers transferred approximately $2.87 million in affected assets across chains and then exchanged them on DEX; an additional $2.85 million in assets were sold through centralized exchanges. In total, about $5.72 million related to CEX accounts have been frozen pending investigation. The impact of this vulnerability was less severe than that on Cosmos EVM versions affected by v0.6.2 or v0.7.2. Cosmos Labs also acknowledged that this vulnerability was previously misjudged as not posing a threat to the funds of production network users when it was reported through the vulnerability bounty program, and stated that they will improve the process for classifying and disclosing critical vulnerabilities.
