Fed Chair: Will continue to address high inflation, emphasizing the importance of price stability

According to CoinMeta, Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh stated in his first major speech on Friday that the Fed is still fighting high inflation, emphasizing that "the Fed's job is to provide stable prices." Although inflation in the United States remains stubbornly above the central bank's 2% target, he did not reveal the direction of interest rates in the coming months. Warsh's speech was seen by the market as a signal that interest rates may rise in the coming months, which could run counter to Trump's calls for rate cuts. His optimistic outlook for the economy contrasts with recent data, stating that the economy "seems to have strengthened." At the Jackson Hole Symposium, Warsh said, "In this regard, Main Street and Wall Street have both shown resilience." He also noted that inflationary trends over the past few years have been "mild," and although summer price data were better than expected, they do not indicate "a substantial improvement in the underlying trend."
