Cuban diplomats stated that becoming a member of the BRICS countries is Cuba's top priority, and Cuba is committed to full integration rather than merely being a partner country. This application was made against the backdrop of intensified sanctions by the United States, with the aim of alleviating Cuba's economic difficulties and enhancing its GDP through trade agreements with member countries such as China, Russia, India, and the United Arab Emirates. The BRICS countries also conduct transactions in local currencies, which could boost the value of the Cuban peso.
