According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Iran's national television, the Islamic Revolutionary Guards of Iran stated that an ultra-large oil tanker caught fire and ceased navigation after being hit by two mines in the Strait of Hormuz. The Revolutionary Guards claimed that the tanker was attempting to illegally pass through the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz at the time and emphasized that vessels must comply with their regulations regarding passage through the strait.
