According to CoinMeta, the five stocks that suffer the greatest tax losses in terms of dividends include AGNC and NLY. These stocks distribute nearly all their income as ordinary dividends, resulting in an annual loss of about $13,000 for a taxable account with a 24% tax rate. Mfic and Realty Income also pay ordinary income distributions, which leads to a 10-year straight-line advantage of $127,200 for Roth IRA. Investors with a 37% tax rate lose about $8,000 more per year than those with a 22% tax rate, and this gap widens each year for all stocks except Roth IRA.
