According to CoinMeta, a former senior advisor stated that Hyperliquid faces a potential 10 to 12-month regulatory process when entering the US market, even if federal agencies act swiftly. Ebersole pointed out that the main obstacle is not just obtaining permission to operate in the US; US regulators first need to determine how offshore crypto perpetual contracts fit into existing securities and derivatives laws. President Trump mentioned at a White House meeting on August 19th that the Chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission is working to introduce Hyperliquid to the US in a “completely compliant and legal manner.” Ebersole noted that current US law does not provide a clear path for offering crypto perpetual contracts to US retail customers.
